Being unique and different with the clothes you wear can be something that is difficult for most people. When finding your own style, it is important to find clothes that you feel good in, not just clothes you want to wear to impress others. It is important to firstly, find what you are comfortable in, second, focus on the colours you prefer wearing, and lastly, finding staples in your wardrobe that can be worn to and from each season.
Personally, my style is constantly changing, and I am always finding new styles that I like wearing. However, I ensure I have solid basics in my wardrobe such as denim, plain coloured tanks/tees, as well as basic sweaters and pants so when I purchase ‘different’ or coloured pieces for each season, they fit nicely with what I already own. For basic wear, I tend to shop at stores like Aritzia and Zara (I also find some unique seasonal pieces here) and then I prefer to thrift a lot of my unique clothing items. This way I am being sustainable and finding items that not everyone is wearing.
Below is one of my favourite ways to style a basic white hoodie: with faux leather leggings I purchased for the fall season along with a pair of platform white sneakers.
If you are stuck on finding your personal style or upcoming trends, I suggest doing some research on sites such as https://www.wgsn.com/en/. By doing some research, this prevents you from buying random items that are not easily styled, or items you will get tired of after a couple wears. Most importantly, you can make any style that you love your own. Just remember to be confident and show your own individuality!
